Privacy Policy

Welcome to Diagon Alley! By registering, you agree to our Rules and Terms of Service.

Please be an adult.
You must be 18 or over. We are serious. If we find out you lied, your account will be suspended.

Please post like an adult.
Use complete sentences. Use proper spelling. Use capitalization and punctuation.

Do not use chatspeak. Write 'you,' not 'u.' 'Because,' not 'b/c.' PLEASE DO NOT SHOUT IN ALL CAPS. We are serious. Accounts have been suspended for these things. If you join this site, please do so because you wish to discuss Harry Potter with other adults in complete words and sentences.

Please use descriptive subject lines.
Please write a subject line which is indicative of the content of your post. Good: "The Vanishing Cabinet in Chamber of Secrets." Bad: "Some thoughts."

Using a descriptive subject line will not only help the rest of us identify your topic, it will help you get more replies to your topic, since other posters will better recognize it.

Moderators will edit the subject lines of topics that are too vague.

Please be open-minded.
Guess what? We host a lot of fanfiction and fanart. A lot of it is high-rated. If this bothers you, please find a different Harry Potter site. We also welcome members of all races, creeds, religious and sexual orientations. If you don't like that, this may not be the site for you. We can't please all of the people all of the time.

Please label high-rated content.
When posting high-rated fic or art, please label it clearly in the subject line.

Please do not reply to yourself.
We've enabled "Edit" so that if you forgot something, you can add it!

Please listen to the staff.
Making a mistake is no big deal. When the staff reminds you about your mistake, telling them to fuck off is a big deal. Please don't do it. If you do, you won't be with us long. If you have a problem with the staff, please take it up with a different staff member privately.

Please do not spam.
You may advertise Harry Potter related sites in the Advertising Forum. All posts advertising other sites will be killed with fire.

Please have a reasonably-sized signature.
Your signature should not exceed 500 pixels wide by 100 pixels tall. If it does, a moderator will ask you to make it smaller. Unheeded requests to do so will result in a disabled sig.

Please reread your posts before you post them.
This should go without saying, but you might be surprised. Seriously, read your post before you post it. Think about how it reads to others, and whether it's relevant to the topic.

Please do not post-whore.
We all have our moments, but a good rule of thumb is to make your posts at least two sentences, in general.

Please be respectful.
We love to disagree here. It is what we do best. But there is a difference between saying, "Your 'Charlie Weasley is a Death Eater' theory can't be true, and here's my canon support," and saying, "You are a douche."

Please take apart others' theories all you want, but don't take apart others.

Please re-animate where applicable.
You may have seen forums that were down on necrophilia (resurrecting old threads). We encourage it. We feel it helps the discussion be furthered, instead of having the same discussion over and over again.

A good place to start your necrotizing is here.

Thanks for registering and we look forward to meeting you!
