Post subject: Empire Magazine article on DH movie

I am trying desperately NOT to do any work and finding nothing new posted in the forums I noticed on our Home page the little links to HPANA under which was a link to this brief magazine story about the next film. I haven't been following DH movie developments and so a couple of things struck me, although maybe they are not news to anyone else.
First, that there will be a "seven Potters" scene. On the one hand, I should not surprised because given that they are making 2 movies out of the book, everything should be in the movie that is in the book. On the other hand, given that two characters present in the scene don't exist in the movies (Mundungus and Bill Weasley) and one character, Fleur, would certainly seem to be showing up out of the blue. They need Bill and Fleur for Shell Cottage (which they also filmed) and Mundungus for directing them to the real locket. I am curious as to how these characters are going to spring into existence. I'm sure there is some explanation but it will be inherently incredible. I happy about that, though, because in their effort to make the past movies their way the producers have undermined themselves in making this movie.
Second, is the producers comment about asking whether Daniel Radcliffe wanted to play Hamlet. Based on the statement, I wonder if he will make Harry more like Hamlet here. I can see it but it is a bit of a stretch. Yes, "to be or not to be" would be fit into the end. Harry always kinda had a death wish. Perhaps a little madness creeping in. I don't know. Does anyone see Harry and think "Hamlet"?

My prediction:
Fleur will show up within the first 10 minutes of the movie, all " 'Arry! I am so happy to see you two years latehr. BTW, me and Beel are to be married!" And this will have to be accepted by the audience because it will then cut the Seven Harry's and we'll be so amazed by OMG A FLYING MOTORCYCLE that we'll just forget.
Mundungus Fletcher? They will probably cut out. Perhaps Neville will somehow be responsble for introducing the real locket into the storyline, since that seems to be his MO. (Gillyweed, anyone?)

Just wanted to share that it's been rather nice to read the interviews with actors as their characters film their last scenes in DH. Helena Bonham Carter and others have had some good reflections in getting to the end. Nice. All the links are on our home page.

I wonder if they are going to combine Bill and Charlie into one character (like the Red Queen of Hearts from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland). Haven't the movies already mentioned Charlie at least?
Since we never saw the locket being thrown away, maybe they will find it at the house. Or maybe Kreacher will help them find it.

Not that you're bitter or anything... I feel the same way. Maybe they should have waited for Rowling to finish writing the series (and to finish reading the series themselves) before making them into movies. That way, they would know which details are especially relevant and would come back later. (Ugh, though I kinda blame Rowling herself. It would have been cool if the three hallows, as major plot elements, were in some way introduced to us earlier, like the vanishing cabinet and horcruxes and Sirius Black--and just about everything else that ended up to be a big deal--were.)

Nice to read you to read you nice!
Yeah but that may have given too much away and I think that's what makes the books so great, you can't really predict them, certainly not in their entirety.
As for reading the books I'm not sure anyone who produced them did, certainly not Gambon by his own confession, although his acting showed us that no confession required.

Now, that's just cold, brother, cold. Though dear hubby will agree with you. He basically fast forwards those scenes.

We shouldn't even get me started on Gambon. He's a nightmare.

That's kind of my point. Since we can't predict the books (though we've tried with some success) it seems pretty foolish to adapt the books into movies at any point before the series has been published and released in its entirety (especially as we look at it in retrospect). The adaptation necessarily makes little changes, but with Rowling throwing out so many little clues, the adapters won't know what is minor and what is major until it's too late. Maybe this can be a lesson for future, non-Potter endeavors, but I'm sure "strike while the iron's hot" makes more money than continuity.

Not exactly sure where to post this question so here it goes. I have seen a number of people on other sites using stills from the DH movie for their avatars, mainly the stills in the EW story but others too.
Does anyone know of a way to make stills from the previews? I would like to get a shot of Daniel Radcliff right when he closes his eyes in the Forbidden Forest readying to receive the killing curse from Voldemort. Any simple way I can do this or does it require some elaborate video editing program?
